It was a dream come true: to discover a derelict ancient building and to actually be in a position to purchase said building and to have the privilege of breathing new life into it.
Brontë School House, which is grade II listed, had, unbelievably, been standing unoccupied for thirty years when we fell upon it.
In renovating this wonderful building we discovered a new, or should I say old, world of lime mortar, limewash and breathability. We found ourselves enthusiastically, nay obsessively! entering into discussion with anyone willing on the merits of limewash over modern paints, of lime plaster over gypsum, &c!
We hope you enjoy seeing what a labour of love the restoration project has been.
